Palasek, Megill Make BIG EAST Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Syracuse senior attackman Tommy Palasek and junior defenseman Brian Megill were both named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Monday, April 16 for their performances against Cornell and Rutgers last week.
Palasek led the Orange with nine points in the two games. He scored one goal and passed out two assists at Cornell on April 10 and tied his career high with six points (3g, 3a) in Syracuse's 19-6 victory against Rutgers April 14 at the ESPNU Warrior Classic. All three of Palasek's goals against the Scarlet Knights came during a 12-0 first-half run that gave the Orange control of the game.
Currently, Palasek is second in the BIG EAST in scoring at 3.18 points per game. He has at least five points in three of SU's last four games and leads the Orange with 35 points (18g, 17a) on the year.
Megill picked up 11 ground balls and caused six turnovers last week. He also went 10-for-15 (.667) in his first extended action at the faceoff X. Against Rutgers, Megill anchored an Orange defense that shut out the Scarlet Knights for a stretch of 22:28 in the first half. He also collected a career-high seven ground balls in the contest and won a personal-best 8-of-12 (.667) faceoffs.
Brian Goss (Rutgers), Kevin Cernuto (St. John's) and Jordan Rothman (St. John's) joined Palasek and Megill on this week's honor roll.
Matt Bell of Villanova recorded five points, including four goals, in a 10-9 win against St. John's April 14 to earn BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors. Notre Dame goalie John Kemp was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for his 13-save performance in a 9-7 victory against Georgetown.
Syracuse returns to action Tuesday, April 17 at Hobart. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Boswell Field.
