
Robinson And Caira: Scholar Athletes

Corey Robinson from the men's track and field team and Jenna Caira from the softball team are the Syracuse University Scholar Athletes of the Week for May 7, 2012.
Robinson (Rochester, N.Y) is a graduate majoring in documentary film and history. He has been named to the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll in each of his nine semesters on campus as well as the BIG EAST All-Academic Team three times.
On the track this season for the Orange, Robinson finished 23rd in the 5000-meter run last weekend at the BIG EAST Championship with a time of 15:18.90, helping the SU men to its highest finish at the conference meet since 2007.
Caira (Toronto, Ontario) is a senior majoring in physical education. She has been named to the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll each of the past three semesters and was named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team last season.
Caira tossed the fourth no-hitter of her SU career last weekend against No. 18/16 South Florida as the Orange took two-of-three from the Bulls. Caira has a 1.53 earned run average this season for the Orange, and was 17th in the nation in strikeouts heading into the South Florida series.
The track and field teams will travel to Princeton, N.J. this weekend for the IC4A and ECAC Championships, while the softball team will head to South Bend, Ind. for the BIG EAST Tournament. The Orange, the No. 3 seed in the tournament, will take on St. John's on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
