Otto Request Form

Otto would love to join you for your event!

Otto the Orange makes more than 800 appearances a year! These appearances range from Syracuse football games to wedding receptions, creating joy and laughter (and bringing some Orange spirit!) for all. If you want a memorable addition to your special event, don't forget to invite Otto!

How to Schedule an Appearance:
Please submit the form below and your request will be reviewed within a week.

Appearances should be requested at least two weeks prior to the event. We confirm appearances on a first-come, first-served basis depending on Otto's availability.

Appearances that are 30+ miles from Syracuse University require our student athletes to drive their own vehicles to and from the event, so we do ask that anyone who requests Otto commits to pay gas and tolls to the students directly, which will be discussed as we process your request.

If you are requesting an appearance that is outside of the Central NY area, we welcome you to request Otto sooner, rather than later.

Types of events and suggested payment rates:
The mascot appearance fee supports the ongoing operational costs for Otto the Orange and the student athletes that deliver the Otto experience to our Syracuse Community.

  1. Charity/Fundraising Events
    If you'd like to apply for a fee waiver for a charity/fundraising event in our local community - please send your request to otto@syr.edu
  2. Campus/Community - $150
    Covers the wide range of appearances tied to the SU campus ecosystem and the Central New York community. This includes athletic and department events, orientation programs, academic ceremonies, school visits, alumni gatherings, and local community celebrations where Otto serves in a brand-ambassador capacity. These appearances are the backbone of the Otto program and represent the highest volume of annual engagements.
  3. Weddings & Personal Events - $250
    Covers private celebrations where Otto attends as a special guest - typically for SU alumni, students, staff, or families with a meaningful connection to Syracuse University. Common occasions include weddings, graduation parties, milestone birthdays, and other life events where an Otto appearance adds a uniquely Orange touch.
  4. Corporate - $750
    Covers appearances where Otto participates in commercial, media, or brand-driven engagements on behalf of an external organization. This includes product launches, content shoots, broadcast productions, and live events where Otto's participation has commercial value for the requesting company.

*These rates apply to events up to one hour. If you would like to request Otto for longer, if we're available, it may be at an additional cost.
