GREENSBORO, N.C.—Martin Hehir has been named the male ACC Cross Country Performer of the Week, as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Tuesday morning. Hehir took a third place finish at the Coast-to-Coast Battle for Beantown on Friday.
Hehir, a sophomore from Washingtonville, N.Y., is the third Syracuse student-athlete to be named an ACC Player of the Week. Robert Welsh (football) and Leonie Geyer (field hockey) earned the honor earlier this year.
Hehir finished third overall in a field of 140 runners with a time of 24:12 (8k), just one second behind the individual champion. His finish led the No. 9 ranked Orange to a second place finish behind No. 12 Oregon.
The cross country team is back in action on October 19 at the Princeton Invitational.
