GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse's freshman guard Tyler Ennis was named the Atlantic Coast Conference's Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday, Dec. 30.
It was the second time this season that Ennis was tabbed the ACC's top rookie. He is just one of two players to be selected the ACC's Rookie of the Week more than once, joining Duke's Jabari Parker, who earned the distinction in the season's first three weeks. Ennis has collected the award in two of the previous four weeks.
In the Orange's only contest, Ennis finished with 20 points, four rebounds, two assists, no turnovers and one steal in 37 minutes of action. He tallied eight of his points from the free throw line, including six during SU's 14-3 game-ending run. The 20-point performance was the second time Ennis scored 20 points or more in a game this year.
Through 12 games, Ennis has turned the ball over just 13 times, yielding a 4.69 assist-to-turnover ratio, which ranks second in the nation. He also ranks second nationally with 2.67 steals per contest.
Ennis and the Orange (12-0) wrap up the non-conference schedule with Eastern Michigan on Tuesday, Dec. 31 at 3 p.m. Tickets are available online, in person at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B), or by calling 1-888-DOMETIX.
