
Fazio and Kuwik Named Orange Scholar-Athletes of the Week

Senior Joe Fazio (Syracuse, NY) of the men's lacrosse team and senior Stacy Kuwik (Fairport, NY) of the softball team are the Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the week of Feb. 25th.

Fazio, a defensive midfielder, was named one of four captains of the men's lacrosse team prior to this season. Fazio has seen action in both games so far this season, recording two ground balls. Last season, he played in all 17 games as a reserve long-stick midfielder, picking up 10 ground balls and causing five turnovers. Fazio is majoring in accounting and CPA in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. He has been honored on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for five semesters and named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team in both 2010-11 and 2011-12.

Kuwik is a pitcher for the SU softball team. So far this season, she has recorded a 3-2 record on the mound. Against the College of Charleston, Kuwik allowed just one hit and retired 10 batters in the 11-0 victory. In 2013, she has an ERA of 2.26 and opponents are hitting .217 against her. Â Prior to this season, Kuwik was named to the BIG EAST 2013 Pre-season All-Conference First Team by College Sports Madness. Kuwik is majoring in computer engineering in the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science. She has been named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for six semesters and honored on the BIG EAST All-Academic Team in both 2010-11 and 2011-12.

Fazio and the men's lacrosse team host Virginia at the Carrier Dome, on Friday, March 1st, at 6 p.m. Kuwik and the softball team travel to Orlando, Fla. for the Citrus Classic- ESPN Rise tournament which begins on Friday, March 1st.
