Former Orange Demetris Nichols and Arinze Onuaku will square off in the NBA D-League All-Star Game on Saturday, Feb. 16th.
Two Former Orange on NBA D-League All-Star Rosters

NEW YORK – Former SU men's basketball standouts, Demetris Nichols and Arinze Onuaku have been selected to play in the seventh annual NBA D-League All-Star Game, as announced on Monday, Feb. 4th.
Only Syracuse and Georgeotwn have more than one alum on both rosters as Nichols, of the Sioux Falls Skyforce and Onuaku, of the Canton Charge are among 20 players who were selected by the NBA D-League's 16 head coaches. Onuaku will play for the All-Star Futures team while Nichols will play for the All-Star Prospects Team.
While both are averaging double figures, Nichols leads the pair, averaging 17.8 points per game. In addition to earning NBA D-League Performer of the Week honors on January 21st, Nichols is one of seven players on the Prospects' roster with NBA experience. Onuaku has started 15 of 18 games played with the Charge this season, averaging 12.4 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per game.Â
In his senior year, Onuaku set the SU single-season record with a .669 field goal percentage (min .500 attempts) on 540-for-833 shooting, before being picked up by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers following his career at SU.
Nichols was the only member of the 2006-07 Orange lineup to start all 35 games and led the team in scoring average (18.9), three-point baskets (100), free-throw percentage (.850) and minutes played average (34.8). Following a stellar senior year at Syracuse, he earned AP Honorable Mention All-America Honors and first-team all-district honors by the Basketball Times, National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and United States Basketball Writers of America (USBWA). He was picked up by the Sioux Falls Skyforce in August 2012.
The NBA D-League All-Star game will air live Saturday, Feb. 16 on NBA TV at 3 p.m. in the Sprint Arena at the NBA All-Star Jam Session at Houston's George R. Brown Convention Center.
