
Maltz and Marrow Named Orange Scholar-Athletes of the Week

Junior Derek Maltz (Ashburn, Va.) of the men's lacrosse team and junior Aleah Marrow (Durham, N.C.) of the women's tennis team are the Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the week of March 11th.
Maltz, a captain of men's lacrosse team, has started in all four games so far this season. He has scored six goals, including one-man up tally, and has registered six ground balls. As a sophomore in 2012, Maltz was one of seven players to start every game and had a team-high 28 goals, including a squad-best nine man-up goals. He was second on the team in scoring with 37 points (28 goals, nine assists). Maltz is a public relations major in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. He was honored on the 2011-12 BIG EAST All-Academic Team and named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for the Fall 2012, Spring 2012 and Fall 2011 semesters.
Marrow is 3-1 in singles play this season and has a doubles record of 4-4 in 2013. She has seen action in singles play on both court five and court six. Against #69 DePaul, Marrow and doubles partner, Komal Safdar clinched the doubles point for SU with an 8-6 win on court two. Â Marrow is a communication and rhetorical studies major in the College of Visual and Performing Arts. She was honored on the 2011-12 BIG EAST All-Academic team and named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for the Fall 2012, Fall 2011 and Spring 2011 semesters.
Maltz and the men's lacrosse team host John Hopkins at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 16th (ESPNU). Marrow and the women's tennis team will host Princeton on Sunday, March 17th at 10 a.m. in the Drumlins Tennis Center.
