
Hickey and Nandin Named Orange Scholar-Athletes of the Week

Junior Sean Hickey (Murrysville, Pa.) of the football team and senior Morgan Nandin (North Syracuse, NY) of the softball team are the Syracuse University Orange Scholar-Athletes for the week of March 18th.
Hickey started all 13 games on the offensive line in the 2012 season. Hickey began the season at left tackle and moved to right tackle beginning with the game against Pittsburgh. During the season, he blocked for 1,000-yard rusher Jerome Smith. He aided an Orange offense that set school records for total offense (6,188 yards), total offense per game (476.0), most plays (1,028), passing yards (3,757), completions (295), passing yards per game (289.0) and touchdown passes (26). Hickey is majoring in management in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. He was honored on both the 2011 and 2012 BIG EAST All-Academic Teams and was a member of the 2010 Fall, 2011 Fall and 2012 Fall Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
Nandin has started every game this season at the short stop position. She has nine hits including two RBIs and five runs scored. Nandin has an on base percentage of .239. She was named captain of the SU team prior to this season. Nandin has started every game of her career at SU and has 77 career hits. Nandin is a physical education major in the School of Education. She was named a member of the 2011-12 All-BIG EAST Academic Team and named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for the Fall 2009, Fall 2011, Spring 2012 and Fall 2012 semesters.
Hickey and the football team being spring practice to prepare for the 2013 season Tuesday, March 19th. Nandin and the softball team host their first games of the 2013 season this weekend when they welcome Harvard for the Duel at the Dome on Saturday, March 23rd at 6 p.m. and Sunday, March 24th at 12 p.m.
