Louisville, K.Y. - Sophomore Mary Dombrowski recorded the only Orange hit of game as Syracuse (12-16, 1-2) lost, 9-0, in the finale of the three-game series against #11/11 Louisville (28-6, 2-1) at Ulmer Stadium.
The Cards got the bats going early and put six runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning. Taner Fowler highlighted the inning, cranking a three-run homer to left-centerfield.
SU tried to counter as freshman Corrine Ozanne drew a walk to lead off the top of the second. Sophomore Julie Wambold took the plate next, but flied out to left field for the inning's first out. After senior Veronica Grant struck out, freshman Danielle Chitkowski grounded out to third to end the inning and the scoring threat.
Louisville piled on two more runs in the second inning and another in the third for a 9-0 advantage that would prove to be the game's final score.
Next weekend, Syracuse heads back out on the road, traveling to Binghamton for a midweek matchup on Thursday, April 4 at 3 p.m. SU then returns home to host its first three games at SU Softball Stadium, welcoming DePaul with doubleheader on Saturday at 12 p.m. The Orange will also take on the Blue Demons the next day at noon.
