
Jones and Mock Named Orange Scholar-Athletes of the Week

Junior Zian Jones (Los Angeles, Calif.) of the football team and junior Kasey Mock (Pottstown, Pa.) of the women's lacrosse team are the Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the week of April 15th.
Jones played in 12 games this season at defensive tackle. He registered eight tackles, including five solo and one for a loss of one yard. Jones tallied two tackles in a game on three separate occasions against Minnesota, Cincinnati and Temple. Jones is majoring in communication and rhetorical studies in the College of Visual and Performing Arts. He was honored on the 2012 Fall Athletic Director's Honor Roll and named to the 2012 BIG EAST All-Academic Team.
Mock has started in 10 games this season on defense. She has recorded 10 ground balls, one draw control and caused seven turnovers. In her softball year, Mock played in 22 games, notching career highs in ground balls (15), draw controls (5) and caused turnovers (3). Â She is majoring in inclusive education in the School of Education. Mock was honored on the Athletic Directors Honor Roll for four-straight semesters and named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team in both 2010-11 and 2011-12.
Jones and the football team host its annual Spring game this Saturday, April 20, at the Carrier Dome at noon. Admission and parking is free. Mock and the women's lacrosse team hosts Cornell on Tuesday, April 16, at 4 p.m. and Notre Dame on Friday, April 10th at 7 p.m.
