Daniels Earns BIG EAST Weekly Honor

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior rightfielder Shirley Daniels has been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll, after helping SU to wins in three games last week, including a doubleheader sweep of BIG EAST foe Villanova on Wednesday. The honor is Daniels' first of the season and second of her career.
Daniels, who is currently on a four game hitting streak, went 7-for-14 at the plate across the last five games with a solo homerun, a double, four runs scored, four walks and five stolen bases. The BIG EAST stolen base leader is also a perfect 26-of-26 in attempts.
Daniels' week was highlighted in SU's 3-2 victory against Villanova in game two of the doubleheader. Daniels went 3-for-3 with one run and one stolen base. On Sunday in the three-game series finale, the Orange defeated Seton Hall, 4-3 and Daniels went 1-for-2 with a solo homer to center field, her fourth long ball of the season, drew two walks and stole a base.
Syracuse hits the road this week to take on Rutgers in a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 24, beginning at 1 p.m.
