Schoonmaker Wins Weekly Award

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Syracuse redshirt sophomore midfielder Henry Schoonmaker was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career Monday, April 8. Schoonmaker earned the honor for six-point effort in the Orange's 13-12 win at Princeton Saturday.

Schoonmaker netted a personal-best four goals and passed out two assists against the Tigers. He scored twice in the first quarter and his last goal of the day tied the game at 12-12 with 4:31 left. Schoonmaker's six-point performance nearly matched his season scoring total (nine points) entering the game.

Villanova's John LoCascio earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors Monday after recording a combined 17 ground balls, nine caused turnovers and one assist in wins against Georgetown and Rutgers.

Reilly O'Connor (Georgetown), Nick Ossello (Notre Dame), Sean Rogers (Notre Dame), Kieran McArdle (St. John's) and Jack Rice (Villanova) were selected to the conference's weekly honor roll.

Syracuse returns to action Wednesday, April 10 when it faces No. 2 Cornell at 6 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. The game will be televised live nationally on ESPNU.
