
Skilton Signs NLI to Join the Orange

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse head women's soccer coach Phil Wheddon has announced that Stephanie Skilton has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Orange next season. Skilton is a native of Auckland, New Zealand and has participated in two World Cup tournaments for the New Zealand national team.
In 2012, Skilton was a member of New Zealand's U20 squad that competed in the World Cup in Japan. She recorded two goals in seven international matches. Skilton was also part of New Zealand's U17 team that played in the 2010 World Cup in Trinidad & Tobago. That year she posted two goals in six international contests. In addition, Skilton has competed for the Glenfield Rovers club team. She was named the Player of the Year in 2010 and the MVP of the premier women's cup final in 2011.
A 2012 Manukau Junior Sports Woman of the Year nominee, Skilton is a two-time Papakura High School athlete of the year honoree. She also served as vice captain for Auckland of the nation women's league in 2012.
Skilton joins a recruiting class that includes Emma Firenze (Baldwinsville, N.Y.), Maddie Iozzi (Ajax, Ontario) and Jenny Olensky (Short Hills, N.J.) Syracuse's entire 2013 class will be announced later this spring.
