SU Earns No. 6 Seed in BIG EAST Tourney

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Following a 9-4 Orange victory against Providence on Sunday, the Syracuse softball team (23-28, 10-12) has earned the No. 6 seed heading in the eight-team BIG EAST Tournament, which is scheduled for May 9-11 and will be hosted by USF in Tampa, Fla.
In its 10th overall appearance in the event, the Orange will take on No. 3 seed Louisville (45-10, 18-4) on Thursday, May 9 at 4 p.m. in the USF Softball Stadium. Â The Cardinals are currently ranked ninth in both the ESPN.com/USA Softball and NFCA/USA Today top 25 polls.
SU has earned the sixth seed two times in BET history, having most recently earned the No. 3 seed in both 2011 and 2012. Should Syracuse advance, the Orange will play one of two semifinal games on Friday, May 10 to determine the two final contending teams.
The championship game in slated for Saturday, May 11 at 4 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN2. The BIG EAST Tournament champion will receive an automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Championship.
