The Syracuse men's basketball team began official practice on Friday, September 27, with an afternoon workout at the Carmelo K. Anthony Center.
Jim Boeheim, who ranks second all-time in victories among Division I coaches (920), is in his 38th season as head coach at his alma mater.
Fifteen players participated in the practice session, including scholarship seniors C.J. Fair and Baye Moussa Keita.
"I think the intensity is there," said Keita, during pre-practice drills. "It already started for me because I've been to Canada so it's like it already started."
"My four years have gone so fast but this is my last and so I'm going to make the best out of it."
The 2013-14 season marks Syracuse's first as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The Orange was BIG EAST Conference members since the league was formed in 1979. Syracuse, Notre Dame and Pittsburgh are the newest ACC members.
Syracuse has exhibition games scheduled with Holy Family on November 1 and Ryerson on November 5. The regular-season opener is against Cornell on November 8.
