Hilliard Earns Academic All-District Honors

Redshirt junior defender helps anchor nation's best defense
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse redshirt junior Tyler Hilliard was named to the Capital One Academic All-District I Men's Soccer Team on Thursday, Oct 30. By virtue of his placement on the all-district team, Hilliard's name will be forwarded to the national Academic All-America ballot to be voted upon by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Hilliard has played in 32 matches since joining the Orange and he has started 13 games this season for a Syracuse defense that leads the NCAA in goals-against average (0.36) and is tied for the national lead in shutouts (11). In addition, Hilliard has three goals and one assist this year and scored twice in the Orange's 3-1 victory against Wake Forest on Oct. 10.

Off the field, Hilliard is pursuing a degree in finance. He's been named to the Syracuse Athletic Director's Honor Roll (min. 3.0 GPA) every semester he's been on campus.

The Capital One Academic All-America program is administered by CoSIDA. To be eligible student-athletes must be a starter or key reserve, achieve sophomore standing at their current school, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.3 and be nominated by his or her sports information director.
