Senior Midfielders Garner Scholar-Athlete Honors

Two lacrosse seniors, Kirkland Locey and Billy Ward, earned Orange Scholar-Athlete distinction this week. The two midfielders will both take on ACC foe North Carolina in the Carrier Dome on Saturday, April 12. Locey and the women's squad starts at 3 p.m. and Ward and the men's team will follow at 6 p.m.
Ward, a co-captain, has had a stand-out senior campaign, totaling 12 points already this season. His nine goals are two short of his best season total, which he recorded last season and he is five points away from setting a new season-best in the category. Earlier this season, Ward scored a career-best three goals in the overtime win against Albany and then tallied a personal best four points in the win at Johns Hopkins. He has been named to the BIG EAST All-Academic team in all three of his previous seasons and has been on the Syracuse Athletic Director's Honor Roll every semester. A member of the School of Education, Ward is earning a degree in health and exercise science.
Locey has played in 12 games so far this season and has tallied the fourth-most draw controls on the team with 19. She was named to the BIG EAST All-Academic team in each of her last three years and has made the Syracuse Athletic Director's Honor Roll in all of her semesters at SU. A member of the Whitman School of Management, Locey is working toward a degree in marketing management.
