Sean Hickey, Cam Lynch meet the media
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse's second season in the Atlantic Coast Conference officially began Sunday at the 43rd annual ACC Football Kickoff. Day 1 of the league's signature media event was all about the players as 28 student-athletes, two from each school, met with nearly 450 local, regional and national media at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center.

ACC Digital Network Video: Hickey & Lynch Interview
More: Beyond the ACCtion Blog
Senior OT Sean Hickey and senior LB Cameron Lynch represented the Orange. The pair held court in the writers' room, visited with ESPN and the ACC Digital Network, participated in a press conference, several additional one-on-one interviews and worked Radio Row. There was also lunch and an ice cream social to break up the nearly seven-hour media gauntlet.
Some takeaways:
Hickey Can Roll: The big left tackle's bowling score was an early-day topic of conversation. Hickey won Saturday night's player bowling outing with a high score of 194. He rolled two turkeys (3 consecutive strikes) twice during the game. The biggest surprise? He did it throwing a straight ball.
"I can throw a hook, but I always leave one or two pins," Hickey said. "I feel like throwing it straight gives me a better chance to get a strike."
Lynch's Favorite Part of the Experience: "The ice cream social. It was a big break between all the things we had going on. Seriously though, I definitely liked talking to the major networks like ESPN and the ACC Network. That was big being able to represent our school."
Opposing Player Lynch Got to Know Best: "Probably Vic Beasley (Clemson). We bowled together. The guys from Virginia Tech (Willie Byrn, Luther Maddy) and Miami (Duke Johnson, Denzel Perryman), too. It's fun to talk to guys about where they are in life, what their mindset is like and how their program is doing."
Hickey's Favorite Part of the Experience: "Getting to talk to all different types of people that you normally wouldn't from all different parts of the country."
Most Unique Question Hickey Received: "Who dresses the sloppiest on road trips. I really had no idea what to say."
The ACC Football Kickoff continues tomorrow when the league's 14 head coaches make the rounds. Orange coach Scott Shafer's media tour begins at 9 a.m. with an appearance on Radio Row. His press conference is scheduled for 4:40 p.m. It will be streamed live on theacc.com.
