SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse volleyball team looks to extend its winning streak this weekend down in the Sunshine State, taking on #17 Florida State on Friday and Miami on Sunday. Both matches will be aired on ESPN3.
The Orange won its third consecutive ACC matchup against Virginia this past Sunday at the Women's Building. The win puts the squad fourth in the ACC standings with a 6-2 conference record and a 15-4 overall record.
SCOUTING #17 FLORIDA STATE (15-4, 8-0 ACC)
This will be the fourth meeting overall between the Orange and the Seminoles, with FSU posting a 3-0 advantage in the series dating back to 1992.
The 'Noles are currently ranked first in the ACC and 17th in the nation, tallying a perfect 8-0 record in ACC play and a 15-4 overall record.
Three-time ACC Player of the Week Nicole Walch heads the 2015 FSU squad. The senior outside hitter leads the team with 271 kills so far on the year, ranking fifth in the ACC in kills per set with 3.82.
SCOUTING MIAMI (12-6, 5-3 ACC)
This will be the sixth meeting overall between the Orange and the Hurricanes, with Miami posting a 5-0 advantage in the series dating back to 2002.
The Orange look to get its first win in the series after the 'Canes won both matchups against the Orange in 2014. Miami is three spots behind 'Cuse in the ACC standings, currently ranked seventh in the conference with a 5-3 record and a 12-6 overall record.
Sophomore outside hitter Olga Strantzali leads the 2015 squad with 243 kills so far on the season and 32 aces. She ranks second in the ACC with 0.44 aces per set.
