SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse men's basketball team defeated Colgate 78-51 on Tuesday night in the Carrier Dome thanks to an impressive 3-point performance on the Orange's end, draining 14 3-pointers on evening. The Orange are now 7-2 on the season, while the Raiders fall to 2-6 on the year.

One 3-point basket shy of tying the program record, the Orange went 14-30 (46.7%) on the night thanks to the hands of Michael Gbinije, Trevor Cooney, Malachi Richardson, and Tyler Lydon. Gbinije, Cooney, and Richardson each sunk four from beyond the arc, while Lydon added two treys.

Junior Tyler Roberson headed the Orange effort under the basket, pulling down seven rebounds, including four offensive boards. Lydon added six rebounds and a game-high three blocks.

Four buckets from beyond the arc from the four Orange 3-point shooters kicked things off for Syracuse in the first five minutes of the game, as the Orange jumped out to a quick 15-8 lead. 'Cuse secured a 10-0 run heading into the latter minutes of the opening half, establishing a comfortable 27-11 lead at the 7:15 mark.

Two more three's from Richardson maintained the Syracuse lead 33-19 heading into the final minute of the first half, but a three on Colgate's end narrowed the Orange lead to 11 heading into the locker rooms, 33-22.

The 3-point showcase continued with a three from Gbinije 12 seconds in to the start of the second half, and another trey from Cooney at the 18:11 mark extended the Orange lead 41-25.

A putback by senior DaJuan Coleman brought the Orange its largest lead of the game at the time with a 25 point advantage at the 4:53 mark, 71-46. A dunk and a pair of free throws from the center sealed a 78-51 victory for Syracuse.
