Orange on the Rise

BALTIMORE – The Syracuse men's lacrosse team moved up two spots in the coaches' poll and one spot in the media rankings this week. The Orange climbed from No. 4 to No. 2 in the latest USILA Division I Top 20, and went from No. 4 to No. 3 in the most recent Cascade/Maverik Media Poll, released Monday, Feb. 16.

Syracuse earned 219 points in the USILA rankings following its 14-6 victory against Cornell and trails top-ranked Denver by 21 points. The Pioneers received 240 points and all 12 first-place votes after beating Duke on Saturday. Notre Dame (215 points), North Carolina (199 points) and Duke (197 points) round out the top five in the coaches' poll.

Denver also holds the top spot in the media rankings, followed by Notre Dame (467 points), Syracuse (453 points) and North Carolina (424 points). Virginia and Duke tied for the fifth spot with 382 points each.

The Orange returns to action Sunday, Feb. 22 when it hosts Army inside the Carrier Dome. Faceoff is slated for 7 p.m. on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel.
