GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Syracuse duo of redshirt junior attackman Dylan Donahue and senior defenseman Sean Young swept the weekly Atlantic Coast Conference men's lacrosse awards on Monday, Feb. 16.
Donahue was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week and Young was tabbed the ACC Defensive Player of the Week for their performances in SU's 14-6 win against Cornell yesterday.
Â
Donahue eclipsed 100 career points in the victory, pacing the Orange offense with two goals and a career-high three assists. He hit the century scoring mark when he tallied a man-up goal early in the second quarter to give Syracuse a 2-0 advantage. In addition, Donahue recorded three points (1 goal, 2 assists) in a 5-1 third-quarter run that turned a 7-3 Orange lead into a 12-4 advantage, putting the game out of reach. For his career, Donahue has 104 points (70 goals, 34 assists) in 38 games.
Â
Young led an Orange defense that gave up just one goal in the first half, and six goals total to Cornell, the fewest for the Big Red in the series since 1994 (5). He guarded Cornell All-American attackman Dan Lintner and held him without a point, snapping Lintner's streak of 16 straight games with a goal. Lintner finished the day 0-for-6 shooting with one turnover. In addition to his work on Lintner, Young picked up a career-high four ground balls and matched his personal best with three caused turnovers.
Â
Next up for the Orange is Patriot League foe Army. Syracuse hosts the Black Knights Sunday, Feb. 16 in a 7 p.m. contest at the Carrier Dome.
