Orange Holds Steady in National Polls

BALTIMORE – The Syracuse men's lacrosse team maintained its current position in this week's national polls after last night's 12-9 victory against Army. The Orange stayed at No. 2 in the latest USILA Division I Top 20, and held onto the third spot in the most recent Cascade/Maverik Media Poll, released Monday, Feb. 23.

Syracuse earned 261 points in the USILA rankings and closed the gap to 17 points behind top-ranked Denver. The Pioneers received 278 points and 13 first-place votes. Notre Dame (245 points), North Carolina (244 points, 1 first-place vote) and Virginia (219 points) round out the top five in the coaches' poll.

Denver also holds the top spot in the media rankings for the third consecutive week. The Pioneers are followed by Notre Dame (469 points, 2 first-place votes), Syracuse (453 points, 1 first-place vote), North Carolina (426 points) and Virginia (393 points).

The Orange returns to action Sunday, March 1 when it hosts Virginia at the Carrier Dome. Faceoff is slated for 12 p.m. on ESPNU.
