'Cuse Tightens Grip On Top Ranking

Orange the unanimous No. 1 team in both national polls
BALTIMORE – The Syracuse men's lacrosse team is the unanimous No. 1 team in the nation. The Orange received every first-place vote in the latest editions of both the USILA Division I Top 20 and Cascade/Maverik Media polls, released Monday, March 23.

The Orange was voted the top team in the land for the fourth week in a row after defeated Duke yesterday, 19-7. The four-week stay is Syracuse's longest stint atop the polls since 2011.

Syracuse earned 440 points and all 22 first-place votes cast in the USILA poll. Notre Dame received 416 points and moved up to No. 2 after defeating Ohio State Saturday. The Irish are followed by Maryland (387 points), North Carolina (365 points) and Denver (352 points) in the top five.

The top five teams are the same in the media rankings. Syracuse garnered 500 points and all 25 first-place votes, followed by Notre Dame (471 points), Maryland (448 points), North Carolina (428 points) and Denver (385 points).

The Orange returns to action Saturday, March 28 when it visits No. 2 Notre Dame. Faceoff between the Orange and Irish is slated for 12 p.m. on ESPNU.
