Rice Named USILA Scholar All-American

Senior attackman excels on the field and in the classroom
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – A leader for the Orange on and off the field, senior captain Kevin Rice was named to the 2015 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Scholar All-America Team on Monday, May 18. Rice is the sixth player in school history to receive the honor and fifth in the last eight years.

SU's top scorer, Rice finished his senior season with 84 points on 36 goals and 48 assists. He closed his career with a goal-scoring streak of 31 straight games and his 84 points tied him for ninth on the Orange single-season points list.

In 58 career games, Rice totaled 222 points (96 goals, 126 assists) to finish 12th on the Orange career scoring ledger.

A three-time Capital One Academic All-District selection, Rice was named to the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll (min. 3.0 GPA) every semester he was on campus. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in history and plans to attend law school at Wake Forest in the fall.

Rice joins Joe Ceglia (2000), Mike Leveille (2008), Matt Abbott (2009), John Galloway (2011) and Billy Ward (2014) as Orange standouts who have received the prestigious honor.

The USILA Scholar All-America program began in 1989 to recognize student-athletes who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically and as citizens in their communities. To be eligible, individuals must be a senior nominated by their coach and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale). In addition, they must be either a USILA All-American, a member of a USILA North/South team or an outstanding league or conference player.
