Orange Enters Postseason Ranked No. 1

BALTIMORE – The Syracuse men's lacrosse team will enter the postseason as the No. 1-ranked team in the country. The Orange maintained its grasp on the top spot in the last regular-season editions of the USILA Division I Top 20 and Cascade/Maverik Media polls, released on Monday, May 4.

The Orange concluded the regular season 12-2 after beating Colgate, 9-7, on Saturday and earned the No. 2 seed in this year's NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship.

Syracuse earned 178 points in the USILA poll. Notre Dame received 171 points and is No. 2, followed by Denver (155 points), Duke (147 points) and North Carolina (143 points) in the top five.

The Orange garnered 478 points in the media rankings and 22 of the 24 possible first-place votes. Notre Dame (454 points, 2 first-place vote) is second, followed by Denver (424 points), North Carolina (414 points) and Duke (386 points).

Syracuse faces the winner of the play-in game between Bryant and Marist in the NCAA first round Sunday, May 10 at the Carrier Dome. Faceoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
