
Arciniega and Sand Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Luke Arciniega of football and Belle Sand of volleyball are this week's Orange Scholar-Athletes of the Week.
Arciniega earned his undergraduate degree in sociology and is currently pursuing a master's degree in instructional design, development, and evaluation. The defensive end recorded a personal-best 2.0 sacks in the 30-17 victory over Wake Forest this past weekend. The Sparks, Nev. native currently ranks first in the ACC and 24th in the nation in sacks, averaging 1.00 per game.
Sand is a sophomore pre-med major out of Mabel, Minn. The libero posted a team-high 14 digs in the 3-1 win against LIU Brooklyn at the LIU Blackbird Invitational this past weekend. She also leads the team on the season in digs, totaling 107.
Volleyball makes its home debut this Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 19 & 20, as they host the Syracuse Tournament. The Orange kick off the tournament this Saturday at 5 p.m., taking on the Wildcats of New Hampshire. On Sunday, the team faces Navy at 10 a.m. and Buffalo at 6:30 p.m. All games are free admission.
The football team looks to go 3-0 on the season against Central Michigan this Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Carrier Dome. The game is set for 12:30 p.m. Tickets are available online, by phone (1-888-DOMETIX) and at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B). In addition, discounted group tickets (20 or more) can be purchased by calling 315-443-3212.
