Eight current and former student-athletes to participate
The World Indoor Lacrosse Championship will have plenty of Orange flare.
The United States and Iroquois National rosters combine for eight current and former Syracuse student-athletes.
The United States squad features Casey Powell (1993-98), Joel White (2007-11) and Brian Megill (2009-13), while the host Iroquois' roster features Brett Bucktooth (2003-06), Jeremy Thompson (2010-11), Warren Hill (2015-present), Sid Smith (2008-09) and Randy Staats (2014-15).
Powell, who will don a familiar number 22 for the U.S., has impressive longevity in the indoor game. After becoming a four-time All-American at Syracuse, finishing his career as the program's all-time leading scorer and twice being named the Lt. Raymond J. Enners Award as the USILA Player of the Year, Powell has earned the all-time record for career points (504) in Major League Lacrosse and earned 2014 MLL Offensive Player of the Year.
Powell is the only offensive player on the U.S. squad from the Orange, but White and Megill are both set to be factors on the defensive end for the United States.
Megill, a two-time All-American and Tewaaraton Award nominee in both of his seasons at Syracuse, he owns the program's all-time record in caused turnovers at 103.
White became the first defensive specialist to win the Lt. Donald C. MacLaughlin Jr. Award as the nation's most outstanding midfielder in 2010. He was a three-time USILA All-American, twice being named to the first team (2010, 2011) and was also a Tewaaraton Award finalist both seasons. The Cortland, N.Y. native is Syracuse's all-time leader in ground balls (283), points by a defender (28) and goals (18) by a defensive player.

Hill, a current Orange goaltender, highlights the Haudenosaunee team. Hill joined the Orange last season after spending two years with Onondaga Community College, where he led the Lazers to a perfect 35-0 record and back-to-back National Championships. Hill saw action in six games, making 20 saves last season.
Bucktooth, a two-time All-American at Syracuse finished his senior season ranking sixth in the nation in goals per game and 11th in points per game after leading the Orange in both goals and points.
Thompson was an All-American and All-BIG EAST selection in both years at Syracuse after transferring from Onondaga Community College. He was the team's top-scoring midfielder in 2011 and also took faceoffs for the Orange, winning nearly 60-percent.
Smith, another junior college transfer who was a two-time All-American for the Orange, helping the team to back-to-back National Championships in 2008 and 2009.
Staats recorded 109 points in his two seasons at Syracuse and was a Tweaaraton Award Nominee in 2014 and a USILA Honorable Mention All-American in 2015.
