SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Following a stellar week between the posts, junior goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan was named Co-Defensive Player of the Week by the Atlantic Coast Conference, the league announced on Tuesday, Oct. 11. Brosnan won the honor alongside EJ Proctor of Duke. Alexis Shaffer of Virginia won the offensive award.
Brosnan came up with 20 saves in the Orange's two matches last week, including a career-high 15 against Florida State on Sunday, Oct. 9. The 15 saves were the most in the ACC this season and the second most in a single game at Syracuse.
The Short Hills, N.J. native ranks second in saves in the ACC behind Taylor Francis of Pittsburgh and fifth in the conference with five shutouts. Brosnan allowed only three goals in the non-conference portion of the schedule.
The junior ranks fourth all-time in Syracuse history with 217 career saves and fifth in the Orange record books with 12 career clean sheets.
Brosnan and the Orange continue ACC play on Sunday at SU Soccer Stadium taking on Pittsburgh (2-11-1, 1-5-0) at 1 PM. It will be Alumni weekend for Syracuse women's soccer and all alumni are invited to attend the game.
