Dungey, MacPherson Named Academic All-District

Orange duo are leaders on the field and in the classroom
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse sophomore quarterback Eric Dungey and senior tight end Cameron MacPherson were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District I Football Team on Thursday, Nov. 3.

By virtue of their placement on the all-district team, the names of both players will be forwarded to the national Academic All-America ballot to be voted upon by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Dungey has started all eight games for the Orange. He leads the Atlantic Coast Conference in passing yards (2,631), passing yards per game (328.9) and completions (224). Dungey's accounted 21 touchdowns (15 passing, 6 rushing) this season. He has six 300-yard passing games on the year and was named the ACC's Offensive Back of the Week following SU's wins over Virginia Tech and Boston College.

Off the field, Dungey is a finance major in Syracuse's Martin J. Whitman School of Management. He is an active member of the Syracuse Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and was a 2015 ACC Honor Roll selection.

A William V. Campbell Trophy semifinalist as the nation's top football student-athlete, MacPherson has five receptions for 34 yards. He holds undergraduate degrees from Syracuse in international relations and television, radio and film, and he is currently pursuing a master's degree in Pan African studies.

MacPherson is a member of the leadership team for the Syracuse University chapter of Uplifting Athletes. He was a 2015-16 Remembrance Scholarship recipient and he has been on the Dean's List every semester since transferring to Syracuse from Georgetown in 2014.

To be eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program student-athletes must be a starter or key reserve, achieve sophomore standing at their current school, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.3 and be nominated by his or her sports information director.
