Lacrosse Duo Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- Junior Scott Firman of the men's lacrosse team and senior Mallory Vehar of the women's lacrosse team are this week's Orange Scholar Athletes of the Week.
Firman majors in management in the Whitman School of Management. The Fayetteville, N.Y. native has appeared in all 11 games this season, contributing as one of the leading defenseman for the Orange. He ranks third on the team with 26 groundballs and second on the squad with 10 caused turnovers.
Vehar majors in political science while minoring in entrepreneurship in the College of Arts and Sciences. The Hudson, Ohio native has started and played in all 15 games as a primary defender for Syracuse. She ranks first on the team with 12 caused turnovers and fourth on the Orange with 18 groundballs. Last season, Vehar was an IWLCA All-Northest Region Second Team selection and an ACC All-Academic Team Selection.
Firman and the Syracuse men's lacrosse team are back in action at the Carrier Dome on Wednesday night when the squad takes on Binghamton in non-conference play at 7 p.m. Tickets can be accessed here.
Vehar and the Syracuse women's lacrosse team are on the road Tuesday night at Cornell before returning home for its regular-season finale on Saturday for 'Senior Day' against Louisville at noon.
