SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse softball team returns home to host in-state rival Siena in doubleheader action on Thursday beginning at 3 p.m. Thursday's contest serves as a prelude to the Orange's final homestand of the regular season this coming Saturday and Sunday against Boston College.

PREVIEWING SIENA (21-16, 6-6 MAAC)
The Saints post a 21-16 overall record on the season, most recently coming off of a doubleheader loss at Monmouth this past Sunday.

The Orange and the Saints meet again for the first time in seven years and for the ninth time overall, with Syracuse looking to maintain a perfect record in the series. The teams last met in 2009, where the Orange shutout the Saints in doubleheader action 2-0 and 5-0.

Senior Sammy Smaldone leads the Saints with 44 hits, including 10 doubles, five home runs, and a .552 slugging percentage. Sophomore pitcher Lauren Butts leads Siena in the circle with a 3.57 ERA and a 9-8 record, allowing 88 runs and 131 hits while collecting 86 strikeouts.

WEEKEND RECAP
Syracuse is coming off of a series loss on the road this past weekend against ACC foe Louisville, splitting the first day 0-4 and 4-0, before falling 6-2 in the series finale.

Sophomore Sammy Fernandez continued to prove herself at the plate, tallying a total five hits over the course of the weekend, including consecutive lead-off hits in the opening at bats in each game of the doubleheader contest. Freshman Hannah Dossett also had a big showing at the plate in the second game, driving in three of the Orange's four runs off of a double to left field.

OZANNE BREAKS CAREER HOME RUN RECORD IN DOUBLEHEADER SWEEPÂ
Senior Corinne Ozanne became the first batter in Syracuse history to reach 47 career home runs, putting on a four-home run show across the doubleheader against Canisius two weeks ago. She started things off with two solo homers in the first game, before adding another solo and topping things off with a grand slam for her 47th career home run. Her grand slam put her ahead of former Orange Jasmine Watson's 46 career home runs.

Ozanne hit nothing but homers in the doubleheader, finishing the day going 4-5 at the plate while racking up seven total RBIs.

- Sophomore Sammy Fernandez's hot hitting streak places her tied for third now in the conference in hits with 56. She is currently on an eight-game hitting streak, producing multiple hits in six of the last eight games, including a four-hit performance in the series finale against NC State.
- For the fourth week in a row, the Orange post the best fielding percentage in the ACC, holding a .974 mark over the course of 46 games.
- Junior Sydney O'Hara leads the conference and ranks 12 in the nation in earned run average (1.30), and also ranks first in the ACC and 10th in the nation in hits allowed per seven innings (4.13).
- As a unit, Syracuse stands at third in the conference in ERA with a 2.57 average.
