5/3/2016 4:23:00 PM | Men's Lacrosse
After leading the Orange to back-to-back ACC Championships, head coach John Desko went back-to-back as well, picking up his second-consecutive ACC Coach of the Year award on Tuesday.
The five-time NCAA Champion head coach is the winningest active coach in Division I college lacrosse, boasting a .759 winning percentage over his 18 years at the helm of the program, which ranks seventh all-time in NCAA Division I history.
Desko's Orange were picked to finish tied for third with Virginia in the ACC Preseason Poll, with 'Cuse turning it on at the end of the season to rattle off three-straight wins over ACC opponents, including two in the ACC Tournament, to secure a second-straight conference championship. Syracuse has also won four-straight games, three of which have come against ACC opponents ranked in the top-15.
Desko has been known for getting his teams peaking at the right time. With Sunday's win over Duke, Desko and the Orange moved to 9-1 all-time in conference tournament games, to compliment his nations-best winning percentage in NCAA Tournament games.
In addition to his ACC Coach of the Year honors the past two seasons, he was also the BIG EAST Coach of the Year in 2011.
