SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse softball head coach Mike Bosch has signed a multi-year contract extension, according to Director of Athletics, John Wildhack.
"Mike has earned this extension," Wildhack said. "His commitment to maximizing our student-athlete's experience and potential in the classroom and on the diamond fits our department's philosophy."
Bosch took leadership of the Orange program in June of 2015 as the interim head coach after spending three years with the team as an assistant coach under former head coach Leigh Ross. Bosch was appointed to the head coach position in August 2015.
With Bosch at the helm in 2016, the Orange recorded their first winning season since 2012, finishing 27-26.
Syracuse also collected a pair of wins last season over No. 19 Notre Dame in a late March home series at Skytop Stadium. The wins marked the first over a ranked opponent since the Orange defeated No.21/25 UAB in February of 2014.
Orange softball members Sydney O'Hara and AnnaMarie Gatti earned Mid-Atlantic All-Region honors under Bosch's direction in 2016.
O'Hara earned second team honors after recording an ACC-best and national 16th-ranked 1.47 ERA. O'Hara held opponents to a .167 batting average over 62 innings, while allowing just 4.06 hits per seven innings to lead the ACC.
Gatti earned third team honors under Bosch, finishing her sophomore campaign with a 2.63 ERA over 157 innings. Gatti threw 12 complete games and tallied five shutout wins.
Bosch and the Orange softball team will host a series of eight home exhibition games this fall beginning on Sunday, Sept. 25 against Onondaga Community College.
