
MacPherson, Brosnan Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Cameron MacPherson of the Syracuse football team and Courtney Brosnan of the Orange women's soccer team are this week's Orange Scholar-Athletes of the Week.

MacPherson is currently pursuing a master's degree in Pan African Studies. He holds bachelor's degrees from Syracuse University in international relations and television, radio and film. Â A Syracuse native, MacPherson is a 4.0 student and has been named to the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll five times. He is also actively involved with the Syracuse University chapter of Uplifting Athletes and was a 2015-16 Remembrance Scholarship recipient.
The tight end is in his second year in an Orange uniform after sitting out the 2014 season when he transferred from Georgetown. Last year, MacPherson played in 12 games, mostly on special teams. MacPherson made two catches for four yards in Syracuse's game versus Louisville on Sept. 9.
Brosnan is a biology major in the College of Arts & Sciences.
A native of Short Hills, N.J., Brosnan led the ACC in saves last year with 81 after starting and playing in all 19 matches. She finished the 2015 season with four shutouts.
This year, Brosnan already has recorded four shutouts. She is tied for third in the ACC in the category.
MacPherson and the Orange football team are back in the Carrier Dome on Sept. 17 to take on USF at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are available online, by phone (888-DOMETIX), at Destiny USA kiosks and at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B).Â

Brosnan and the Syracuse women's soccer team host a pair of home games this weekend. The Orange play Buffalo on Thursday at 7 p.m. and Notre Dame on Sunday at noon. Admission is free.
