Syracuse Pair Ranked By ITA

TEMPE, Ariz. – Following a strong fall season, the Syracuse women's tennis team has a pair of athletes nationally ranked the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced on Tuesday, Jan. 4.
Senior Valeria Salazar and sophomore Gabriela Knutson were ranked No. 10 overall in doubles, moving up two spots from the preseason rankings in September. Salazar also came in at No. 38 in the singles rankings and Knutson at No. 99.
The duo had an impressive fall, including advancing to the semifinals of the National Indoor Championship in November after claiming the Regional ITA title earlier in the season. Salazar, Knutson and Anna Shkudun competed in the NCAA Individual Championship last spring, marking the first time since 1996 members from Syracuse has played in the tournament. Syracuse also advanced the NCAA Championship as a team for the first time in program history.
The Orange kickoff the 2017 on Jan. 21 at Yale and at Columbia the next day. 'Cuse will have its first home game versus Buffalo on Feb. 18 at 11 a.m.
