Firman, Miller Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Scott Firman of the men's lacrosse team and Abbey Miller of the women's ice hockey team are this week's Syracuse Scholar-Athletes of the Week.
Firman is a senior management major in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management.
The Fayetteville, N.Y. native is a captain on this year's team as a defensive midfielder. He has picked up seven ground balls this season in three games, including four in the season-opener against Siena.
Firman and the men's lacrosse team will host Virginia on Sunday, March 5 for Military Appreciation Day in the Carrier Dome. That game is set to begin at noon and tickets can be purchased online or by calling 1-800-DOMETIX.
Miller is a junior communications and rhetorical studies major in the College of Visual and Performing Arts.
The Anoka, Minn. native has started in 29 of 32 games in goal for the Orange this season. Miller has shut out eight opponents this season, a new Syracuse single-season record. She has earned College Hockey America Goalie of the Month in January and weekly honors twice this season for her play.
Miller and the ice hockey team head into postseason play this week. The Orange will travel to Buffalo for the CHA Tournament at the HARBORCENTER. Syracuse will play on Friday after earning a first round bye. Tickets can be purchased here.
