Cunningham, McDonnell Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Marcus Cunningham of the men's lacrosse team and Haley McDonnell of the women's lacrosse team are this week's Syracuse Scholar-Athletes of the Week.
Cunningham is a redshirt sophomore majoring in biology in the School of Arts and Sciences. Cunningham is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at Syracuse.
Cunningham and the men's lacrosse team open the 2017 season against Siena at the Carrier Dome on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 4 p.m.
The Glen Ridge, N.J. native played in 10 games for the Orange last season and looks to be a major part of the Syracuse defense this season as a potential starter. Cunningham recorded three ground balls and two caused turnovers last year as the fourth defender.
McDonnell is a senior dual accounting and management major in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. McDonnell is a SAAC member at Syracuse.
McDonnell and the women's lacrosse team begin the 2017 season on Saturday, Feb. 11 against Boston College in the Carrier Dome. The game is set for 12 p.m. and will be followed by the men's game.
The Cockeysville, Md. native is a 2017 captain for the Orange after starting for the past two seasons. McDonnell played in 24 games last season and recorded 17 ground balls, nine caused turnovers and two draw controls. She has been named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll six times and earned 2016 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll honors.
