
Orange Predicted Seventh in Conference Play

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse softball team is predicted to finish seventh among conference competition in 2017, announced Monday by the Atlantic Coast Conference office. The order of finish is determined based on a vote from the league's 11 head coaches.
The Orange return six starters from last year's starting lineup and look to improve upon its 27-26 overall and 9-14 conference record from the 2016 season.
Florida State leads the ACC predicted order of finish with 100 points and 10 first-place votes, followed by Louisville (86) and Notre Dame (84). North Carolina (67) and Virginia Tech (58) round out the top five. A full ranked list of ACC teams can be found below.
Syracuse will face eight conference foes in NC State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Boston College, Florida State, Pittsburgh, North Carolina and Virginia Tech. The pair of #3/3 Florida State and #22/22 Notre Dame represent the ACC in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Preseason Poll and ESPN/USA Softball Preseason Poll, respectively.
The Orange begin the 2017 season this Friday, Feb. 10 at the Red and Black Showcase hosted by Georgia. Syracuse will face East Carolina to open up the season, followed by a pair of games apiece with #12 Georgia and Winthrop.
