Molloy Named ACC Defensive Player of the Week
3/20/2017 4:27:00 PM | Men's Lacrosse
After anchoring a defense that held the Johns Hopkins offense to a season low seven goals while making seven saves, collecting three ground balls, causing a turnover and recording an assist.
Molloy led a defense that shut out Hopkins for over 20-minutes in the first half and held off a late JHU rally that provided Nick Mariano the opportunity to tie the game late, where Brendan Bomberry could win it in overtime for the Orange.
Molloy also recorded an assist on a key save that would have tied the game in the fourth quarter. After stopping the shot he sent a long outlet pass to Paolo Ciferri for a goal to give Syracuse a two-score advantage.
Molloy and the No. 5 Orange return to action on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. against No. 11 Duke in the Carrier Dome
