Orange up to No. 5 in USILA Poll

After an 8-7 overtime victory at Johns Hopkins Saturday, the Syracuse men's lacrosse team (5-1, 1-0 ACC) moved up to No. 5 in the USILA poll heading into its first home game since March 5, when the team hosts No. 11 Duke on Saturday.
Penn State is the new No. 1 this week, moving up one spot after collecting 383 points and nine first place votes to lead the poll. 'Cuse's next opponent after Duke is right behind. Notre Dame occupies the No. 2 spot with 371 points and six first place votes. Big Ten squads Rutgers (351 points, two first place votes) and Ohio State (318 points, three first place votes) rank third and fourth respectively ahead of SU.
'Cuse collected 306 points in the poll, moving up one spot after previous No. 1 Denver fell out of the top-five.
In addition to the Fighting Irish, Syracuse future opponents Duke (No. 11), North Carolina (No. 13) and Binghamton (receiving votes) are also represented in the poll. The Orange has already faced No. 8 Albany, No. 9 Army, No. 15 Virginia and No. 18 Johns Hopkins on the year, going 3-1 against ranked opponents thus far.
Syracuse and Duke will face off at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Carrier Dome.
