Mitchell, Lane Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Nicole Mitchell of the women's tennis team and Matt Lane of the men's lacrosse team are this week's Syracuse Scholar-Athletes of the Week.
Mitchell is an information management and technology major in the School of Information Studies. The junior is a member of the Syracuse Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
The Santa Rosa, Calif. native clinched the win against Louisville earlier in the season with a 7-5, 6-1 singles win. Mitchell teamed up with Maria Tritou last weekend to defeat a pair from Miami and to claim the doubles point that proved crucial in Syracuse's 4-3 win against No. 42 Miami.
Mitchell and the women's tennis team will go on the road on Thursday for a match at Virginia Tech and then will host No. 15 Duke on Saturday for Senior Day.
Lane is a communications and rhetorical studies major in the College of Visual and Performing Arts.
The Glen Ridge, N.J. native has four goals and five assists this season for the Orange. Lane had a five-point game against Virginia earlier this season that included three goals and two assists.
Lane and the men's lacrosse team will host Cornell on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Carrier Dome for a midweek matchup. Tickets can be purchased by calling 1-888-DOMETIX or by online.
