SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Former Syracuse wide receivers Brisly Estime and Amba Etta-Tawo signed with the New York Jets and Jacksonville Jaguars, respectively, as undrafted free agents on Saturday, April 29.
Â
A two-time All-ACC selection and 2016 Scout.com All-America punt returner, Estime led the NCAA in punt return average (17.7) last year, running back 16 punts for 283 yards. He topped the conference chart in punt return average as both a junior and senior, and finished his career as the ACC all-time leader in that category at 18.0 yards per return.
Â
In 39 games for the Orange from 2013-16, Estime also caught 103 passes for 1,208 yards and seven touchdowns. His most productive season came in 2016, as he set personal highs for receptions (48), receiving yards (518) and receiving touchdowns (3) in SU's first year under head coach Dino Babers.
Â
A graduate transfer from the University of Maryland, Etta-Tawo took the college football world by storm in 2016. He authored the most prolific receiving season in Syracuse football history and set or tied 10 school records, including the SU single-season marks for most receptions (94), most receiving yards (1,482), most receiving yards per game (123.5) and most 100-yard receiving games (7). Etta-Tawo matched the Orange season standard with 14 touchdown receptions, including a program-record five against Pittsburgh on Nov. 26.
Â
Among Power-Five receivers, Etta-Tawo ranked second to Biletnikoff Award winner Dede Westbrook of Oklahoma in receiving yardage, and was third in catches behind only Clemson's Mike Williams and North Carolina's Ryan Switzer. After the season, Etta-Tawo earned unanimous All-ACC First Team honors and was named to four All-America teams.
Â
In Jacksonville, Etta-Tawo teams up with fellow Syracuse football alums Doug Marrone and Tom Coughlin. Marrone was named head coach of the Jaguars in January. Coughlin is the team's executive vice president of football operations.
