Orange Trio Added to U.S. Tryout Pool

Three Syracuse alums were added to the tryout pool for the U.S. Men's National Team by U.S. head coach John Danowski.
2017 Orange stars Scott Firman, Nick Mariano and Sergio Salcido were tabbed as part of the 12-player additions to the initial 60-player pool. Previously, Orange alums Matt Abbott, John Galloway, JoJo Marasco and Joel White had already been named to the tryout list.
"Initially, a group of 60 players were identified and selected from a large application pool," said Kevin Ankrom, director of high performance for US Lacrosse. "After the completion of the 2017 college season, there was an opportunity to identify some additional collegiate athletes to invite to our player pool. I believe that we have added a number of outstanding players to our pool to give them a look and experience of a U.S. team tryout. This opportunity also gives us a mechanism to establish and identify our high performance athlete pathway, which will tie into our high performance strategy for the national team program moving forward."
The first set of tryouts will take place July 10-12 at the U.S. national teams training center at US Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md. Additional tryout rounds will take place Sept. 1-4 and Oct. 6-9 in preparation for next summer's FIL World Championship in Netanya, Israel.
