Syracuse Athletics Logs Successful 2016-17 Year

Eleven teams represented Syracuse at National Championship events and 25 student-athletes earned All-America recognition in a 2016-17 season packed with prosperity.
 
A year-end review reveals a number of highlights for the Orange:
Syracuse's 11 teams that represented the Orange at National Championship events included: Men's and women's rowing, men's and women's lacrosse, women's basketball, men's cross country, men's soccer, field hockey, men's indoor track and field, and men's and women's outdoor track and field.
 
The 14 teams with a perfect 1,000 APR single-year scores included: men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track & field, ice hockey, women's soccer, tennis and volleyball.
 
Syracuse's 2016-17 All-Americans are Bennie (cross country and outdoor track), Paolo Ciferri (lacrosse), Freddie Crittenden III (indoor track), Riley Donahue (lacrosse), Brisly Estime (football), Amba Etta-Tawo (football), Scott Firman (lacrosse), Joel Hubbard (cross country), Laura Hurff (field hockey), Justyn Knight (cross country, indoor track and outdoor track), Lies Lagerweij (field hockey), Nick Mariano (lacrosse), Sydney O'Hara (softball), Alexis Peterson (basketball), Palamar (indoor track), Miles Robinson (soccer), Sergio Salcido (lacrosse), Paige Stoner (outdoor track), Brittney Sykes (basketball), Harriet Taylor (rowing), Tia Thevenin (outdoor track), Aidan Tooker (outdoor track), Natalie Wallon (lacrosse), Roos Weers (field hockey), and Ben Williams (lacrosse).
 
Knight (cross country and indoor track and field), Salcido, Robinson, Peterson, Allie Munroe (ice hockey) and Abbey Miller (ice hockey) earned conference player of the year honors, while John Desko (men's lacrosse), Chris Fox (men's cross country), Gary Gait (women's lacrosse) and Justin Moore (women's rowing) were named ACC Coaches of the Year.

- 11 teams had competitors involved with National Championship appearances;
 - 14 programs recorded a perfect 1,000 Academic Progress Rate (APR) score;
 - The Orange boasted 25 All-Americans;
 - Third-best Learfield NACDA Directors' Cup finish in school history at 44th;
 - Seven student-athletes earned conference player of the year awards;
 - Four coaches were selected as ACC Coach of the Year in their respective sport;
 - More than 600 Syracuse student-athletes combined to post a cumulative 3.08 grade point average;
 - Four student-athletes -- Cameron MacPherson (football), Hendrik Hilpert (men's soccer), Colin Bennie (cross country/track & field), and Adam Palamar (cross country/track & field) -- earned Academic All-America honors.
