Jaguars Sign Ryan Nassib

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone is getting the band back together in Jacksonville.
Â
The Jaguars signed former Orange quarterback Ryan Nassib to their 53-man roster on Monday, Sept. 18. The move reunites Nassib with Marrone, his college coach at Syracuse, as well as Jacksonville offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett who tutored Nassib with the Orange for three (2010-12) of his four college seasons.
Â
A fourth-round pick of the New York Giants in the 2013 NFL Draft, Nassib also played three years (2013-15) for Syracuse alum and Jacksonville President of Football Operations Tom Coughlin while Coughlin was head coach of the Giants.
Â
Nassib played in five regular-season games during his stint in New York from 2013-16. He was 9-for-10 passing for 128 yards and one touchdown in his four seasons with the club as Eli Manning's primary backup. The Saints signed Nassib as an unrestricted free agent in June. He was released by New Orleans on Sept. 2.
Â
At Syracuse, Nassib was a three-year starter and earned Pro Football Weekly All-America and All-BIG EAST Second Team honors as a senior in 2012. He holds the majority of the Orange's season and career passing records. Nassib finished his Syracuse tenure with 791 completions, 1,312 pass attempts, 9,190 passing yards and 70 touchdowns. As a senior, he posted the top statistical passing season in team history, going 294-of-471 for 3,749 yards and 26 TDs.  Â
Â
In Jacksonville, Nassib is expected to be the team's third quarterback. The Jaguars are currently 1-1. They host the Baltimore Ravens this Sunday.
