Syracuse goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan signs with French D2 team
Her soccer career with the Orange may have come to an end but senior goalie Courtney Brosnan continues to pursue her dream of playing professionally, most recently competing for Club Croix de Savoie in the D2 women's French league.
"So far my experience in France has been amazing," said Brosnan. "It was a little tough in the beginning to be so far from my family but I'm adjusting quickly and having a great time exploring a new city."
It has been a whirlwind few months for the New Jersey native as Brosnan signed with the team at the end of December and flew out to meet her new teammates the first week of January. She will be competing with the team for the second half of the season.
"The team and the club has been super welcoming and I'm really excited for the opportunity to play at the professional level," said Brosnan. "I'm looking forward to the new adventures and challenges that will come along with this experience in France."
Brosnan left Syracuse as the all-time leader in career saves (344), tied for second in career wins (24) and third in program history for career shutouts (18). She finished her senior season leading the ACC in saves with 102 during the 2017 campaign, earning her an All-ACC Third Team selection.
The senior made 67 career starts for Syracuse, posting a 1.30 career goals against average and a .794 save percentage. She looks to bring her collegiate success to her French team and help them turn around the second half of their season.
"It's been a dream of mine to become a professional soccer player and to see that happening is really a blessing," said Brosnan. "I'm really looking forward to working hard these next few months and improving myself while I learn a lot overseas."
