The Syracuse men's basketball team grabbed the 16th spot in the Associated Press Preseason Poll announced on Monday afternoon.
Kansas took the top spot in the ranking, with 37 first-place votes, followed by Kentucky (19 first-place nods).
The Orange were one of seven ACC programs in the poll. In addition to Syracuse, Duke (4th), Virginia (5th), North Carolina (8th), Virginia Tech (15th), Florida State (17th), and Clemson (22nd).
Syracuse did not appear in the Associated Press Poll last season for the first time since the 1981-82 campaign. The Orange made a strong showing in the NCAA Tournament after the final Associated Press Poll had been released. Syracuse advanced to the Sweet 16 before having its season ended by Duke in the Elite Eight.
The Orange open the exhibition portion of the schedule on Thursday, October 25, against the College of St. Rose at 7:00 p.m. in the Dome.
