Orange Trio Earns ACC Weekly Football Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey, linebacker Ryan Guthrie and safety Andre Cisco were recognized by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday, Nov. 26 for their performances on the final weekend of the regular season. All three played keys roles in Syracuse's 42-21 victory at Boston College Saturday.

Dungey was voted the ACC Quarterback of the Week for the fourth time this season. The senior signal-caller accounted for 396 yards of offense and all six Syracuse touchdowns against the Eagles. Dungey was 21-for-34 passing for 362 yards and three TDs. He also rushed 18 times for 34 yards and three scores.

Dungey's three rushing touchdowns all came in the first half and covered four yards, two yards, and 18 yards, respectively. His touchdown tosses were to three different receivers – Sean Riley (75 yards), Jamal Custis (22 yards) and Taj Harris (2 yards).

In the process, Dungey set a new Syracuse season record with 32 touchdowns responsible for, eclipsing the old mark of 30 established by Donovan McNabb in 1998.

Guthrie claimed ACC Linebacker of the Week honors for the second time in 2018. The senior tied his career high with 12 tackles, including one for a loss, against the Eagles. It was Guthrie's fifth double-digit tackle game of the season.

Guthrie led the effort that limited Boston College star running back AJ Dillon to 56 yards on 12 carries, Dillon's second-lowest rushing output of the season. Overall, the Eagles managed 105 yards on the ground, well below their season average of 196.7 yards per game entering the contest. The Orange also forced four Boston College turnovers.

One of those turnovers was a Cisco interception in the fourth quarter. The rookie added six tackles and a pass breakup to his stat line to win ACC Defensive Back of the Week for the first time.

Cisco's pick was his seventh of the season, tying him with Boston College's Hamp Cheevers for the national lead. In addition, Cisco has 16 total passes defended this season, the highest total ever for a Syracuse true freshman.

The 18th-ranked Orange closed the regular season 9-3 and finished second in the ACC Atlantic Division with a 6-2 conference record. Syracuse will learn its bowl destination on Sunday, Dec. 2.
